2012 Mercedes C250 Coupe Review

2012 Mercedes C250 Coupe Review

It’s taken long enough for Mercedes-Benz to become truly serious about taking on the BMW 3 Series Coupe. There have been CLKs and E-Class Coupes, but they inevitably suffer from focusing on two targets: the entry-level models aren’t priced appropriately, and top-end versions are more grand tourer than sports coupe. Never mind that the all-out M3 has been offered as a two-door right from its first generation, while hot C’s are always more staid sedans.

Aftermarket wheel manufacturer TWS Forged obviously liked what they saw when Toyota unveiled the Nurburgring Edition Lexus LFA. Sporting a more track-oriented aerodynamic kit and a functional rear spoiler, that package (even in its shocking orange paint scheme) now looks tame compared to the modified LFA on display at the TWS booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Smart For-Us brings truckness to the urban jungle

Smart For-Us Concept

The Smart team looked to none other than actor/comedian/SNL-alum Jon Lovitz to introduce its pickup truck concept. We're not sure what is stranger: the other J-Lo at an auto show press conference or a Smart with usable bed space.

New Kia C'eed unveiled, will debut at Geneva Motor Show

New Kia C'eed unveiled, will debut at Geneva Motor Show

The second generation of the Kia c'eed is a dramatic rework five years after the C-segment fighter was introduced. It is fronted by Kia's now-familiar design elements, attempting to go upmarket along its flanks with chrome trim around the windows and "styling typically found on a sporty coupé with the space and functionality of a five-door hatch."

We don't know what its innards look like, but Kia says it has a "driver oriented dashboard and refined interior, with a strong focus on quality of materials." Other reports suggest it will be offered with a choice of two gasoline and two diesel engines, which would be a reduction in choice from the five powerplants offered now. However, that same report says that one of the engines would be a turbocharged, 1.6-liter T-GDI making 250 horsepower, more than doubling the most powerful current option. On sale in Europe only, it will take on the Volkswagen Golf, Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Seat Leon.

It will be unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show in two months and go on sale in the UK in June. You'll find a press release that's rather light on details after the jump, and you can click on the image above to enlarge.

2012 Aston Martin Virage Volante Review

2012 Aston Martin Virage Volante Review

Prior to 1964, unless you were a die hard sports car aficionado, most Americans had never heard of Aston Martin.  Then the James Bond movie Goldfinger came out, and almost overnight, everyone in the world knew what an Aston Martin was.  The DB5 used in the movie became the most recognizable and talked about car on the planet. For the movie, it came equipped with all manner of spy gadgets including a GPS tracking screen, machine guns, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen, extendable spinner wheel knock-offs, bullet proof shield, and a red button located on the gear shift knob to activate the passenger ejector seat.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta Review

2011 Volkswagen Jetta Review

After years of poorly made products and an indifferent dealer network, Volkswagen is struggling to re-establish itself as the maker of fun, value-conscious vehicles in the face of so much emotional baggage. It’s doubly embarrassing since corporate sister Audi has swung back so positively into buyer minds with stylish, must-have products that are mostly sterile to drive.

2012 Jaguar XKR-S Review

2011 was a rather big year for Jaguar. Not only was this the year they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their much loved E-type, but also the 20th anniversary of their much over-looked XJ220 supercar.

Wald’s creations are known to be aggressive but for the most part they tend to keep the luxury still intact with their styling packages. This time however, they may have gone too far with their Black Bison kit for the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.
